I had come to this place when it was under the previous owner in 2024. I had composite bonding done and a regular cleaning appointments. Everything was fine back then. BUT -- I'm not sure if it's the front of the office, or the new dentist owner, or the hygienist, but I do not trust this office anymore. I went in for another cleaning earlier this year (2025). The hygienist remarked no abnormalities and gum measurements look good. I verbally confirmed with him at minimum twice that this would not be anything other than a regularly scheduled dental cleaning -- no deep cleaning, no laser irrigation, nothing. Other dental offices had tried to dupe me into that before so I had been up front and communicative about not wanting to be billed for anything my insurance wouldn't cover (a regular cleaning). The hygienist, John, confirmed that I wouldn't need anything other than a regular cleaning. For extra context, I have lived in 2 other different states in the last few years and gotten dental exams and cleanings from other dentists, ALL of which said my teeth were fine with no signs of gingivitis/deeper cleanings needed. After my appointment, then comes the bill from Mission Valley Dental Arts. It said that I owed, which was strange because I know for a fact my insurance covers 2 regular cleanings a year. I noticed that they billed the insurance something under a code that falls under the category of "therapeutic" rather than "preventive", which means my insurance likely wouldn't cover it. I even noted the difference in billing codes between my 2024 service bill/receipt vs the new one. I emailed them about the bill and I got no response for over a month. I then had to go into the office to ask about the billing. At that point, they told me it had already been settled with the insurance because they went back to request it from my insurance after receiving my email. Which was strange, because if they had seen my email, why didn't they ever respond to my email? They also never notified me that the bill was settled via phone or any other medium. Unpaid bills/debt can leave someone feeling extremely stressed and unresolved. Then, they suggested to have the hygienist call me back so that he could communicate/discuss why that particular service was performed and why it wouldn't have fallen under regular cleaning. But I DO know for a fact that nothing out of the ordinary was called out during the appt. No mention of periodontal disease, gingivitis. My gum measurements were all in the 2s and 3s. I wasn't going to stand there and argue with them about what was actually communicated at my appointment, because they kept saying it was on the hygienist. Am I expected to come in and film my discussion with my hygienist moving forward in case I need to provide evidence of what was communicated to me regarding services that will be rendered? Separately, every time I kindly request for an emailed copy of my payment receipt during my appointment while I'm at the office AND by emailing in, I never get a response.

I have been coming to this practice for over 20 years and from the amazing Dental hygienist John, to Dr. Panah and lastly Dr. Yassy always had fantastic experiences… and this is coming from someone who is terrified of the dentist! I trust the staff here and it feels like family. Great bedside manners and they are considerate if you are stressed or nervous!

I recently changed dentists to Mission Valley Dental Arts and the staff and service has been nothing short of amazing! They are all so sweet and I love that they are transparent and explain everything you need for optimal dental health. My dental hygienist is so nice and takes the time to get to know me so it's a more personal experience and it feels like they really care a lot about their patients.
