Dr. Akinwande was recommended to us by our children's orthodontist, and I’m so glad he did! One of my daughters needed specialized dental work, and after our first visit to Dr. A at Open Smiles Dental in Waldorf, Maryland, we were amazed. Not only is Dr. A incredibly skilled and knowledgeable, but we also learned that she does it all—from routine cleanings to more complex procedures. Her expertise and thoroughness impressed us so much that I decided to move my other daughters over to her practice, and I’m now a patient as well. Even my husband will be switching to Dr. A for his dental care! Dr. A is also a proud Howard University graduate, and it’s clear that her education and experience shine through in everything she does. Her warm and personable approach makes every visit stress-free, and the entire team at Open Smiles Dental is equally wonderful. The front desk staff is always pleasant, and Shelly truly goes above and beyond. She’s been so helpful in getting us scheduled and even offered to pick one of my girls up to ensure she made an early appointment! I was particularly impressed when they came in early before office hours to fix my daughter’s tooth before she had to leave for college in North Carolina. Their dedication to patient care is unmatched. Plus, the office is not only cute and clean but also up to date with modern equipment, which really adds to the comfort and convenience of every visit. The best and most patient dentist. Explains everything. No judgment. Most of all no pain for extractions. Shelly was super helpful in making sure I could afford what I needed and go over in detail the process so that I understood every step. She really helped with my anxiety and stayed on me so that I would follow through. You cannot go wrong with this office!

If you need a good cleaning this is definitely the place to be.

I can’t say enough great things about this dental office. I’ve always had really bad anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist, but Dr. Akinwande completely changed that for me. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and truly consultative. She takes the time to explain everything and makes sure you’re comfortable every step of the way. You can tell she really knows her craft. The staff is just as wonderful. The front desk receptionist is super of kind and very professional. I’ve even noticed how she treats other patients with the same warmth and patience. It really sets the tone for the entire office. From start to finish, every visit feels calm, caring, and professional. If you’ve been hesitant about seeing a dentist or have dental anxiety like me, I highly recommend this office. They genuinely care about their patients, and it shows.
