As a minority health care professional myself and someone new to the Medical Center area, I was thrilled to find I lived down the street from this office that had a senior minority dentist. Unfortunately, my initial visit wasn’t the most ideal. I called to schedule my first appointment a couple weeks prior and was asked to pay a $50 deposit which I had never experienced at any other dentist’s office, but I still decided to pay anyways and was told it was non refundable and would go towards my visit. I asked in a few different ways, what if I don’t have any charges, will i get my deposit back?…as my teeth have always been in good condition and I mostly just get my 6 month cleanings which have always been free with my insurance (includes cleaning and X-rays) unless I opt to get fluoride. The answer was never “yes” but a “if your insurance covers it all, then you get it back.” When I arrived, I was told I had a $125 bill for services at check in. When inquired, I was told I had to pay $50 for fluoride and $75 for these new CT X-rays which are more innovative and advanced compared to basic dentist office X-rays many use which are frequently covered by most insurance plans. I was a little taken back as I wasn’t asked if I wanted fluoride just told I had that charge, where if I was unaware I could opt out, I would have likely just paid. Also, it was frustrating since I adamantly asked before about the deposit refund on the phone and if there was a chance I wouldn’t get it back. I wasn’t informed that they have a fancy CT X-ray that you have to get that may not be covered by my insurance, or even told what my insurance copay would be before I showed up. The front desk was nice about it despite my frustration and tried to encourage me to pay the remaining amount to be seen since I couldn’t get my deposit back, but the entire deposit thing felt so unsettling to me I just canceled my appointment and decided to leave rather than pay more there for services.

I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. This woman wouldn't refund my $50.00 that I was told would be held for future dental work. When I arrived I was told that Delta Dental would only pay a fixed price for cleaning. Therefore I said I can't afford $401 which was told to me when I arrived. I had no choice but to not have the cleaning done. I asked about my deposit & was told it's not refundable because I canceled my appointment. Did I really have a choice? Bad business. This is called taking advantage of people.

Update 9/20/22 Service were great. Went by fast. Update 3/15/22 No complaints. Very friendly and she knows her clients very well. So far no complaints. Very friendly and went in to detail of what was going to be done. Can’t wait for the second visit. Update 2/8/20 I’ve been here a year now. Dr. Sly Is awesome and it explains her quality of care that she gives. I’ll keep returning because she is good in what she does and I haven’t experienced a Dr like her in years.

If I could give zero stars I would! First off, when I arrived there I had to wait on someone to let me in the office. Once I was in I was checked in and was told to pay before services began. I paid $310. I was then told to have a seat and wait. The police was going in and out of the office. It was apparent that something was going on. Being that it was my first time there I became uneasy seeing the police come in & out. Once I was called to the back for X-rays, the tech was having issues taking the X-rays. The dental assistant came to help her, then I was told that she was a student and still learning. The dental assistant at that time began to tell me why the police was there and what was going on. There had been an altercation with an employee that was terminated in regards to her final pay. Which was not my business but became my business because this all was taking place at the time of my appointment. The assistant said, he should have called me to cancel my appointment but I had already made it there. I wish they had still canceled my appointment because the service was subpar! The assistant after helping the student get my X-rays right, then told me the dentist will be in. I waited awhile then the dentist came in and tried to consult with me, just to tell me that she’s not equipped to provide the service I needed. But was called out to talk with the police officer who was very rude and didn’t care that the dentist was with a patient. The dentist told me that she would return but she never came back! The dental assistant came in and told me that the dentist had to leave suddenly, due to the threat that was made by her former employee! Omg!!! The assistant took me to another room for more X-rays then told me they would call me the next week to discuss a treatment plan once things settle down. I waited and no phone call. I paid $310 for nothing! The dentist as a professional should have had her assistant apologize and cancel my appointment instead of having me to sit through the confusion and chaos! I should not have been charged a single dime just on GP! This left a really bad taste in my mouth! I would never ever recommend her or this dental practice!!!!
